UN, Jun 1 (PRIME) -- The U.S. is ready to stimulate companies that fear possible sanctions to export grain and fertilizers from Russia, U.S. ambassador to the U.N. Linda Thomas-Greenfield said late on Tuesday.
The decision to send Rebeca Grynspan, Secretary-General of United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, to Russia and then to U.S. should bolster the companies that refrain from supplies of Russian grain and fertilizers, she said.
The companies do not fall under the sanctions, but they are nervous about it, and the U.S. is ready to send “stimulating” letters to support them and in order for insurance companies to support efforts of grain expports from Russia, she added.
Stephane Dujarric, spokesperson for the U.N. Secretary-General, said in a news conference that Grynspan’s negotiations in Moscow with Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov on Monday on access of Russian food and fertilizers to the global market were constructive, and that she was to meet with Washington’s representatives later in the day.
